Day five brought a whole new kind of challenge—and a whole new level of connection. We started the morning back at Bo’s house, this time leveling out a ditch so he could lay rebar for his new crab shack. The work was hot, sweaty, and involved digging dirt out of a cave that felt like it was 1,000 degrees—but we pushed through and got it done, all for something that means a lot to Bo and his future.
Later in the day, we headed out into the neighborhood for food distribution, and it was honestly one of the most meaningful parts of the trip. We met so many people, heard their stories, and got to witness the beauty and strength of the local culture firsthand. There’s something so humbling about being welcomed by strangers and sharing small moments that feel incredibly sacred. To close out the day, we were treated to a free meal at Mark Ministry’s restaurant—and it was amazing. Sitting around the table, full of food, laughter, and reflection, we couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
Today was our last day of service, and it’s hard to put into words how much I’m going to miss it. The work was tough, but the memories, the people, and the purpose behind it all made every moment worth it. Puerto Rico has taken a piece of my heart, and I know this isn’t the end—just the beginning of something much deeper God is doing in all of us.
