Day 6!!

After a powerful week of service, today was all about rest, reflection, and celebrating everything God has done. We spent the day at the beach, soaking in the beauty of Puerto Rico, playing in the waves, and enjoying each other’s company—without shovels or cinder blocks in sight. We explored local food stands, picked up some souvenirs, and got a taste of the vibrant culture we’ve come to love.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was getting to revisit the house our team worked on last year. Seeing it almost complete—and meeting with the family that was truly the start of my faith journey—was emotional and full-circle in the best way. It reminded me that the seeds we plant here grow into something real, something lasting, even long after we’re gone.

Later, we were asked to share what we’re spiritually taking home from this trip. I shared that I’m taking home a new perspective of joy. Not the kind that depends on comfort or ease, but the kind that’s found in service, in unity, in hard work, and in the presence of God—even when we’re tired, sweaty, and muddy. This week taught me that joy is more than a feeling—it’s a choice, a mindset, and a gift that we can carry with us wherever we go.

So as we get ready to fly home today, I leave with a full heart, a deep gratitude, and a joy I know won’t stay in Puerto Rico—but will shape how I live, love, and serve from here on out.
